The first step to becoming a bowler is finding the right pro shop to get started. Having a pro shop rep that knows the current bowling ball line up and new releases to match up with your game. If you are a beginner and just learning how to bowl, the first step is not falling for pro shops that only cares about money and tries to get you to buy a bowling ball for 250+ dollars. The beginner bowler should always start with a low-end bowling ball that cost somewhere along 60-80 dollars. You do not need a 250+ dollar bowling ball to begin with since the purpose of those bowling balls are used in a professional setting such as competition or tournaments.
Whenever you go to the pro shop and picked out a low-end bowling ball, the next step is to get the correct drilling. The pro shop rep might end up offering to drill the ball conventional. You do not want this. Conventional drilling is whenever your 2nd knuckle from the tip of your finger is fitted to push that length of the finger all the way into the bowling ball. You are going to want to get fingertip drilling. This is a very important step to take in learning how to bowl more competitively and have a better chance to grow into the sport. In order to hook a bowling ball correctly, the fingertip drilling is the most efficient way on being able to hook a ball like a pro. We will get more into the methods of hooking whenever we get into the topic of hooking a bowling ball.
The next important step is picking out bowling shoes to bowl in. If you are planning on bowling competitively and have stopped growing, then I would recommend buying a shoe that cost somewhere around 70-100 dollars to begin with. If you are not bowling competitively or haven’t stopped growing yet, then I recommend buying bowling shoes that cost somewhere along the lines of 20-40 dollars. That way if you are bowling once a week on a fun league, it’s not breaking your bank when you can’t win any money. The next topic we will be getting into is the next step into becoming a bowler. This next step involves reaching out to an organization and trying to find a coach. This way you can learn the basics of bowling and be able to have a solid underground.
